When I was a kid, I had a love-hate relationship with a book by Alvin Schwartz called In a Dark, Dark Room and Other Scary Stories. I loved it because it was so perfectly creepy, scary and sometimes just weird, and i hated it for those exact same reasons! I borrowed it from the library recently, just to fulfill my urge for first-grade nostalgia. I was surprised how accurately I remembered most of the stories, especially Jenny and the Green Ribbon, which was always a favourite of mine.
