Acadian Driftwood, by one of my favourite bands (The Band), was recorded in 1975.
The song is the fictionalized account of the British powered deportation of French Acadians from their homes in parts of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, to British controlled colonies between 1755 and 1763. This historical expulsion is known as the Great Upheaval.
