In this book, Witold Rybezynski addresses the evolution of the home since the Middle Ages, surmising that the 21st Century’s idea of comfort is a developed, cultural attitude. Using charming anecdotes, Rybezynski discusses the evolution of social interior architecture by analyzing the changes and improvements made to home décor, furniture design and construction, as well as interior planning. This book is a very enjoyable read, a great break from fiction, and definitely a “recommended read”. (ki)
